Got a new link up, for Kiva.

Very short version: our politics -- actually, global politics -- is more and more top-down -- that is, controlled from the top. Yeah, yeah, that's pretty much the antithesis of democracy, then again, the American empire, as it were, is post-democracy.

On the other hand, creating a healthy democracy, or at least the foundation for one, is a matter of bottom-up politics, which is where microcredit and Kiva come in. One hopes and prays that microcredit does all the good it can. (It does a lot but dunno whether it does enough.)
